Anna Lucy Berardi of West Chester
Anna Lucy Berardi died peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013 after a valiant fight with cancer. She was surrounded by loving family. She was born in Avondale, Pa. on Oct. 4, 1929 and was the daughter of the late Samuel S. Santucci and the late Maria DiVintantonio Santucci. Anna was married for 58 years to Mario Berardi, Sr. They lived and raised their family in West Chester. Anna attended St. Patrick Elementary School, Kennett High School and Goldey College. In her early ’20s she was crowned the Mushroom Queen in Kennett. For most of her adult life she was involved in the family owned business, Berardi Bakery. After partial retirement she worked part time for 10 years with the YMCA. Her loved ones remember her for her love of family, the wonderful dinner get togethers, her fun creativity with art and decor and her joy in retirement. She is survived by her children, Mario Berardi, Jr. of Kennett Square, Diane B. Tuttle (David) of Jacksonville, Fla., Anna Anita Berardi (William Maher) of Portland, Ore. and Michele Berardi (Scott Walker); sisters, Camilla Santucci and Theresa Rowley (Neil); and daughter-in-law, Sellena Berardi of West Chester. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Berardi MacCoy and grandson, Brian Tuttle. Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass, 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at St. Agnes Church, 233 W. Gay St., West Chester. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, West Chester.
